Have you seen "the light?"

Specifically, a simple, modern, nickel-finish vanity light? One that would look lovely with the West Elm bathroom mirror pictured below?

We're serious. Months of searching in stores and online and I/we have yet to find a vanity light for our bathroom that makes as swoon with joy.

Now, you might be asking yourself, "Should a bathroom light make one swoon with joy?"

Yes, damn it. It should. At the very least it shouldn't make one shake their head in disgust. (There are oodles of not-so-simple, not-quite-modern, nowhere-near-nickel-finish vanity lights, you see.)

So, if you've found a simple, modern, nickel-finish vanity light, please let us know. We're desperate. And, frankly, damn tired of taking showers in the dark.

  • Not cheap, but have you looked at Circa Lighting? They have some interesting modern-ish lights mixed in with more traditional styles. This sconce is one that I've had my eye on for a while, and I think it could be paired with something modern/contemporary:

  • You might take a look at
    Rejuvenation

The blog From the Ground Up highlights some pretty nice fixtures. Not sure of cost.

    Good luck!

  • The Kovacs sconces in From the Ground Up are on sale here. Cheap too!

  • This happened to us, too. We liked the Rejuvenation lights ok, but we felt that they were a little too art deco and not mid-century enough. Schoolhouse Electric has some terrific finds, but they are pricey. We eventually went with some $2.99 light fixtures from Home Depot. They were simple and cheap, so we're saving for when someone starts making some good repros!

Pleasure to find yr blog, by the way!

  • Christiane!

Thanks for sharing in our pain! And the suggestion of Schoolhouse Electric, which modernhousedallas may want to take a look at.

We, too, have found light fixture prices to be less-than-groovy. And, quite frankly, I can't rationalize spending $300 for a light that I KNOW has a material's worth of $4.50. Sorry George Kovacs, I can't.

    So... The search continues!!!
